We've got your request. A Collision Auto Glass tech will call you shortly to confirm the glass, your coverage and a time that works.

Gradient is the thing that decides the appointment
Lake Oswego is built into slopes, and the driveways reflect it: short, steep, often turning as they climb, frequently ending in a garage cut into the hill. That is fine for the glass itself. It is a real problem for one specific part of the job.
A static ADAS calibration requires the vehicle to sit on a genuinely level surface with a target positioned at a measured distance and height. A driveway running at a noticeable gradient cannot deliver that. What makes this worth saying out loud is that the equipment will often still produce a result on a slope — and a calibration that reports success from a bad setup is more dangerous than one that fails honestly, because everyone involved believes it is done.
So on the hillside streets here we will frequently propose bringing the car into Tualatin for that stage. From most of Lake Oswego that is a short drive down to the I-5 corridor, and it is the difference between a calibration you can rely on and one that merely says it passed.

The tree canopy, which cuts both ways
The mature cover this town is known for genuinely protects glass — less direct sun, less thermal cycling, and a chip that might have run in an exposed car park often sits stable for months under shade.
What it is unhelpful for is the moment of installation. Urethane needs a clean, dry bonding surface, and working beneath established trees in this climate means drips long after the rain has stopped, plus needles, seed and pollen settling on an adhesive bead that is supposed to hold for the life of the vehicle. Sap on the glass edge is worse still.
Where a driveway sits directly beneath heavy cover, we would rather move the car a few metres into the open, use a garage if there is room, or bring it indoors. It is a small adjustment that decides whether the bond is sound.
Garages here are frequently the answer
Older houses in this town often have garages that are perfectly usable for glass work and simply too full to use. If yours has room for the car plus a metre or so at the front, that is the best of both: level, dry, sheltered, out of the canopy.
Have a look before the appointment and tell us at booking. A cleared garage regularly turns a job we would otherwise have moved indoors into one we can finish at your house.

Getting around, and where we reach
The lake itself divides this town more than a map suggests — routes bend around it, and two addresses a short distance apart as the crow flies can be a long way apart to drive. If you are giving us directions, the nearer arterial is more useful to us than a postcode.
We cover Lake Oswego, West Linn and across toward Durham and Tigard as routine. East over the river into Oregon City and Milwaukie is outside our natural territory and we will say so rather than stretching to it.

Glass, and the camera behind it
One team handles the glass and the calibration in the same visit. Nothing gets driven across town to a second shop, and nothing gets billed twice.
New glass, set by two people, with the camera behind it recalibrated in the same visit.
Rock chips, star breaks and cracks — resin injection while the damage is still small enough for it to work.
Autel MaxiSYS, in-house. The camera behind your glass gets aimed and confirmed.
Tempered glass, the pebbles inside the door, and the regulator that often broke with it.
Defroster grid, antenna, and several thousand pebbles in the load area.
Free across the service area. What we need from the space, and when it is a bad idea.

Three steps, no shop visit
Send the form or call. Your VIN or plate gets us the exact glass for your vehicle, including whether it carries a camera, rain sensor or heating element.
We check your coverage first
Before anyone is dispatched we confirm what your policy covers and what your deductible actually is, so the price you hear is the price you pay. No claim is filed until you say go.
Your driveway, your office lot, your job site — at no extra charge. We fit the glass, recalibrate the camera if there is one, and tell you when it's safe to drive.

What Oregon drivers actually pay, and who gets to choose
Glass claims are the part of this job customers have been given the most wrong information about — including by shops. Here is what is actually true in Oregon.
Your insurer does not get to pick the shop
Oregon law is explicit about this. ORS 746.280 prohibits an insurer from requiring you to use a particular repair shop, and requires them to tell you so. If a claims line tells you that you have to use their network shop to be covered, that is not how it works — you can name us, and the claim is handled the same way.
It depends entirely on your policy, and we will not pretend otherwise. Glass is generally handled under comprehensive cover rather than collision, and the deductible is whatever your policy says it is. Oregon does not mandate zero-deductible glass — a handful of states do, and Oregon is not one of them, whatever you may have read. Call with your carrier and policy and we will tell you what we see on similar claims.
A chip is a different conversation from a crack
Many carriers treat a repairable chip differently from a full replacement, because a resin repair costs them a fraction of the glass. Whether yours does is a question for your policy, not for us — but it is worth asking before you assume a chip is not worth claiming. We bill carriers directly, including through the Safelite Solutions and Lynx third-party networks.
No insurance? Most of our calls
Plenty of people pay cash, either because the deductible is higher than the job or because they would rather not touch the policy. You get the same glass, the same urethane, the same calibration and the same guarantee. Tell us the year, make and model and we will quote it outright.
We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or acting as an agent of any insurance company. Carrier and network names appear here only to describe who we bill.
Real vehicles, real driveways
Had a rock chip that grew to a huge crack. Called around and noticed the reviews for Collision Auto. I spoke with Scott who was very helpful and personable and I got a quote very quickly. And to clarify, I did go to Safelite to get a quote and they had 3 different prices, at Collision, it was just one price. I was unable to get it done for a few weeks, called Scott and he was able to get me right in with the same quote he gave before. They did a great job, took a couple of hours so I stayed in their waiting room and worked. It was quiet, clean and comfortable, and their WiFi worked great. I highly recommend them for your car window needs.
From the moment I called, I was treated with kindness and professionalism. Everyone—from the staff who answered the phone to the technicians who completed the work—made the entire experience easy and stress-free. The lobby was exceptionally comfortable, and I truly felt like I was treated as family, not just another customer. The level of care, attention to detail, and customer service was outstanding. I highly recommend Collision Auto Glass & Calibration to anyone looking for honest, friendly, and top-quality service. Thank you for making such a great experience!
Great experience at Collision Auto Glass & Calibration. I was referred by Land Rover Portland. From the moment I called, Brad was very helpful and easy to work with. He walked me through the insurance claim and explained the process from start to finish. It took a few days for the insurance to process, but once they had my vehicle, the turnaround was quick—about 4 hours. Professional, flexible, and they even have a really sweet dog greeting customers. Highly recommend for window replacement!

This is our Cedar Mill shop, just off the Sunset Highway. The postal address reads Portland, but it sits in Washington County rather than inside Portland city limits — our vans cover the city itself.
Portland, the Westside & the South Metro coverage
Two shops, Cedar Mill and Tualatin, and mobile vans working out of both. If your town is not named below, call and ask — the honest answer is sometimes no, and you should get it before you book rather than after.
What the warranty actually covers
"Lifetime warranty" is meaningless unless somebody writes down what it includes. Here's ours.
Covered, for as long as you own the vehicle
- Water leaks caused by our installation
- Wind noise caused by our installation
- Moulding and trim failures from our fitting
- Workmanship defects of any kind on our install
Not covered — and we'd rather say so up front
- New impact damage — a fresh rock is a fresh job
- Stress cracks spreading from damage that predates our work
- Defects in the glass itself, which carry the manufacturer's warranty
- Damage from a later collision or a break-in

Glass claims in Oregon
Glass damage is covered under the comprehensive part of your policy, and your comprehensive deductible applies to a replacement.
Most carriers waive the deductible entirely for a chip repair, because a repair costs them a fraction of a replacement. If the damage is still repairable, that is usually the cheapest outcome for everyone.
We file the claim with your carrier and deal with them directly, so you are not on hold for an afternoon. Call us with your policy number and we will check your coverage with you before you commit to anything.
Paying cash
Not going through insurance? You get a straight price up front, before any work starts — no surprises when the job is done.
Most carriers waive the deductible on a chip repair even where a replacement would carry one — a repair costs them a fraction of new glass.
Damage smaller than a dollar bill, out of the driver’s line of sight and away from the edge, can usually still be repaired — which is quicker, cheaper, and keeps the original factory seal. Once it spreads, it is a replacement, so it is worth calling early.
General information only, not advice about your policy — coverage depends on the policy you hold, so check with your carrier. We are an independent auto glass company and are not affiliated with or endorsed by any insurance company. Your choice of repair shop is yours to make.
Our warranty
Lifetime No-Leak Guarantee
In writing, in full, right here — not a claim with the terms hidden somewhere else.
A lifetime no-leak guarantee for as long as you own your vehicle.
It covers workmanship and leakage on the part we replaced. The guarantee isn't transferable and doesn't cover pre-existing damage or new damage that occurs after installation. Parts themselves are guaranteed by the manufacturer. If you ever notice an issue, bring it to us promptly so we can make it right before it causes further damage.

What customers say
Pulled straight from our Google listing — real customers, real jobs.
“From the very first phone call to the moment I picked up my car, the customer service was outstanding. Brad made the entire process easy and stress-free. He was professional, honest, and took the time to explain everything. When he inspected my windshield, he immediately recognized that the damage was consistent with a rock impact. He and the installer went above and beyond by taking detailed photos and offering to write a statement to help with my warranty claim—something he absolutely didn't have to do. It's rare to find a business that genuinely cares about its customers the way they do. Their kindness, professionalism, and willingness to help made a difficult situation so much easier. Brad deserves recognition for the exceptional customer service he provides. His honesty, compassion, and dedication truly set him apart, and it's clear he takes pride in helping his customers. I highly recommend this shop to anyone who needs auto glass repair or replacement. They've earned my trust, and I'll definitely be returning for any future glass repairs. Thank you, Brad, for going above and beyond. It's because of people like you that businesses earn lifelong customers.”
“I was quoted a 3-5 hour wait time to get my Jeep Grand Cherokee windshield replaced...they were done in 2.5 hours, complete with all the sensor calibrations. Their technician nicked the dash leaving a very small and almost unnoticeable cut. They were prompt to inform me and offered to send it in to get the dash repaired, or just accept it and knocked off some $$. I truly appreciated their immediate response and acceptance of responsibility. As it was extremely small, I just accepted the reduced price and can easily fix such a tiny cut with the Permatex vinyl & leather repair kit without it being easily noticed...if at all.”

Family-Owned & Operated Since 2008
Collision Auto Glass & Calibration has been the Portland metro's go-to auto glass shop since 2008. We're family-owned, locally operated, and we've spent the last 18+ years building a reputation for honest work, expert installs, and customer service that brings people back for every vehicle they own.
Gene started the business in 2008 with his wife Stacy, and the family is still here every day — their son Brandon works in the office and accounting side, general manager Brad runs the NW Portland store, and Scott manages our Tualatin shop. Brad's pup Bloo is our unofficial shop dog in NW Portland.

A Real Shop, Not a Call Center
We're not a national chain. We're not a call center routing your job to whoever happens to be nearby. We're a real shop — actually, two real shops, one in NW Portland on Science Park Drive and one in Tualatin on Mohave Ct — staffed by the same certified technicians every day, doing every install to the standards the auto manufacturers require.
Our technicians are certified through SIKA and DOW Automotive, the two leading urethane manufacturers, and every install is AGRSS-compliant — the auto glass industry's safety standard, not just a buzzword. That's why our tagline is Clearly the Best Choice.

Calibration Done In-House
Most modern windshields sit in front of a forward-facing camera that lane departure warning, collision avoidance, and adaptive cruise control all depend on. Replacing the glass moves that camera's reference point, so calibration is required.
We calibrate with the Autel MaxiSYS system at our own shops — we don't sub it out. There's no separate trip to the dealer and no waiting days for an appointment somewhere else: glass and calibration get done in one visit.

How the Job Gets Done
Call us for a free quote with your vehicle year, make, and model plus what glass needs work, and we'll give you an exact quote in minutes. We work with 300+ insurance companies and handle the claim and direct billing for you.
Then pick a time. Free mobile service is available throughout our Portland metro service area — our technician comes to your home or workplace at no extra charge. Most windshield replacements take about an hour, and every job is backed by our lifetime no-leak guarantee.

Questions
Frequently asked
How much does windshield replacement cost in Portland, OR?
Windshield replacement costs in Portland typically range from $200–$500 depending on your vehicle make, model, and features like rain sensors or ADAS cameras. Collision Auto Glass works with over 300 insurance companies, and in most cases your insurance covers the full cost. We provide free estimates and can verify your coverage before any work begins.
Can I drive immediately after windshield replacement?
Yes. We use premium Dow urethane with a 30-minute safe drive-away time. The product meets or exceeds all OEM specifications, so you can get back on the road quickly without compromising safety.
Do you offer mobile windshield replacement in Portland?
Absolutely. We offer free mobile windshield replacement within our Portland metro service area — no extra charge. Our certified technicians come to your home, office, or wherever your vehicle is with everything needed to complete the job, including Autel MaxiSYS ADAS calibration when required. Mobile service excludes rock chip repair, which we handle at either shop.
Is windshield calibration required after replacement?
Yes — if your vehicle has Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) like lane-keep assist, automatic emergency braking, or forward collision warning, calibration is mandatory after windshield replacement. We use the Autel MaxiSYS calibration system in-house to make sure your safety systems function correctly to manufacturer spec.
Do you do the calibration in-house?
Yes. We calibrate with the Autel MaxiSYS system at our shops, so there's no separate trip to the dealer and no waiting days for an appointment somewhere else. Glass and calibration get done in one visit.
Will you bill my insurance company?
Yes. We work with every insurance company, including PEMCO, Farmers, American Family, Allstate, Safeco, GEICO, Progressive, Liberty Mutual, and MetLife. We handle the billing directly, so you don't chase paperwork.
Can my insurance company require me to use a specific glass shop?
No. Oregon law protects your right to choose your own glass shop. Your insurance company can recommend a shop, but the decision is yours. If a claims rep pressures you toward their network shop, you can simply tell them you've chosen Collision Auto Glass & Calibration.
How do I file a glass claim?
Call us first. We get on a three-way call with your insurance company and file the claim with you, start to finish. You verify your coverage, we handle the shop details, and the whole thing usually takes about ten minutes.
Will a glass claim raise my insurance rates?
In most cases, no. Glass claims are typically filed under comprehensive coverage as no-fault claims, so they don't usually affect your rates the way an at-fault accident would. Your agent can confirm how your specific policy handles it.
Can my windshield be repaired instead of replaced?
Often, yes. If the chip is smaller than a quarter and sits outside your direct line of sight, repair is usually the answer. Damage larger than a quarter, cracks that reach the edge of the glass, or damage directly in front of the driver typically means replacement. Bring it by either shop or send us a photo and we'll verify which one you need.
How much does rock chip repair cost?
$90 per chip. Many insurance policies cover chip repair at no cost to you because it's far cheaper than paying for a full replacement later. We'll check your coverage on that three-way call.
How long does a windshield replacement take?
Most replacements take about an hour, plus cure time. We use a Dow urethane with a 30-minute safe drive-away time that meets or exceeds all OEM specifications. It costs us more to use, but it means you're back on the road the same morning instead of waiting around all day.
Will filing a glass claim raise my rates?
Glass damage is handled under the comprehensive part of your policy, not collision or liability, and comprehensive claims are generally treated differently from an at-fault accident. Every carrier and policy is different, though, so your carrier is the one who can confirm it for yours. Either way, nothing is filed until you tell us to.
Should I use insurance or just pay cash?
It comes down to two numbers: your comprehensive deductible and the price of the glass. If your deductible is $250 and the replacement is $550, claiming saves you $300. If your deductible is $500 and the glass is $420, paying directly is cheaper — and there is no claim on your record. We will price it both ways before you decide.
Does my car need a camera recalibration?
If there is a camera mounted behind your windshield — lane keeping, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise — the manufacturer generally requires recalibration after the glass is replaced, so the system aims where it is supposed to. Your VIN tells us whether yours has one, and if it does we include it in the quote up front rather than after the job.
